Earth & Sky is now Dark Sky Project
For over 15 years, Earth & Sky has been regarded as pioneers in astro-tourism, hosting thousands of manuhiri (visitors) each year at a range of exclusive locations in the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve.
On 2 July 2019 we took our next big step, opening an astronomy centre on Takapō (Tekapo) lakefront featuring a new, indoor daytime experience and Diner. This centre aims to be the home of astronomy in our region - a place for people to learn, to discover and to be inspired.
At this same time, we launched our new name: Dark Sky Project. This name has been chosen as it reflects our founders' greater purpose: to connect manuhiri to the night skies, igniting a lifelong passion for dark sky preservation.
Earth & Sky Bookings: If you have an experience booked under Earth & Sky, your reservation is still confirmed and you don't need to do anything.
Please note the check-in point for your tour will be at Dark Sky Project Base, located at 1 Motuariki Lane on Takapō (Tekapo) lakefront. It is approximately a 50m walk from the old Earth & Sky booking office - you won't miss it!
Nau mai haere mai - we look forward to hosting you.
