This October, Dark Sky Project is proud to host a trio of inspiring events for World Space Week 2025, inviting our community to explore the Moon, test their space knowledge, and discover the cultural stories that connect us to the stars.
International Observe the Moon Night

Location: Astro Theatre, Rehua Building, Dark Sky Project
Cost: Free (RSVP essential)
Hosted by our Astronomy Guides - Olive Felton, Marina Stroinigg, Oscar Wright, and Mareike Gerstl - this public talk explores the Moon and other moons in our solar system. Learn about lunar phases, moon myths, and the possibility of life beyond Earth. Weather permitting, the evening ends with telescope viewing.
Mid-Autumn Festival: Fun Facts About the Moon

Hosted by our Astronomy Guides - Quinna and Sylvie - this bilingual public talk (English and Chinese) blends astronomy, culture, and imagination. Discover the legends of Chang’e and the Jade Rabbit, explore why the Moon always shows the same face, and learn why it appears larger when rising. A beautiful fusion of science and storytelling, perfect for families and curious minds.
World Space Week Quiz Night
