Nā te pō, ko te ao, ko te ao mārama

From the darkest depths of the night we become enlightened

At Dark Sky Project, formerly Earth & Sky, we connect manuhiri (visitors) to our night skies, igniting a lifelong passion for dark sky preservation and what lies above.

Dark Sky Project is located in Takapō (Tekapo) in the South Island of New Zealand. Takapō is one of the quietest spots on the planet yet it has one of the busiest night skies in the universe.

We're proud to operate in the heart of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, the largest Dark Sky Reserve in the world and the first to obtain gold status.

Thousands come from around the world each year to discover, to reflect and to be inspired by the skies above.
